DAY 11 – Wednesday 20th August
Ireland 0 V India 2
Ireland played India and put up a good fight but lost 2-0.
Michael Craig started superbly taking first game 11-6 but the effects of the tournament started to show( 13 matches so far ) and he lost the next 3 games reasonably quickly.
Next on was Oisin Logan. This was a very tight match with Oisin honestly not getting just reward for his efforts. Two game balls in the first at 10-8 eventually losing 13-11. Tight second but lost 11-9 and again 4 game balls in the third but nothing to show for it losing 15-13. Great effort but just a little luck was also needed. India did not want to play the third match as it was a dead rubber.
Today we play Finland in our last match to decide 7 th position. Match is at 1pm. Lots of luck needed !

Ireland bt France 2-0
Oisin Logan had a tough 5 setter on Monday evening. At game ball to Oisin in the 5th he got struck and needed stitches. So the match was postponed til Tuesday morning. Oisin only needed one rally to gain the first win. After Oisin’s win 11-8 in fifth , Michael bt August Daccord 11-7 in the fifth. Really super display by Michael and although playing a little bit in patches ( lost 4th game 11-4 ) he played really patient squash in fifth to win reasonably comfortably.
We play Egypt ( no. 1 seeds ) at 6pm again on centre court in quarter finals.
Match will be streamed live.

DAY 8 – Sunday 17th August
Ireland v Malaysia 1-2.
Michael Craig was first on and started slowly going 2-0 down. Both games were reasonably tight but every poor length Michael was punished clinically. In the third Michael’s length and discipline improved dramatically and it was his opponent who started to get frustrated and make errors. Michael took the third game 11-6. Fourth game was a real classic with both players playing superb squash with Michael eventually getting to 10-7 up and his opponent fighting back saving two game balls. At 10-9 Michael went return of serve at nick and hit an absolute roller ! What a way to clinch game ball ! Fifth game followed suit and Michael maintained quality length combined with disciplined short game eventually winning 11-9. Super win for Michael and great start for team.
Next on was Oisin Logan. Oisin started well with positive hitting and forced errors from a nervous opponent and gained game ball at 10-8 but failed to capitalise on them losing 12-10. Huge confidence boost for Malaysian who started to move the ball around the court with greater efficiency and control and put Oisin under huge pressure and took the second and third games quickly.
Deciding match , David Ryan started reasonably well and took an early lead 5-1 but his opponent started to fight back and with some super winning shots took the first game narrowly 12-10. David pushed the pace up in the second game hitting harder length but also stepping in to volley short much quicker. David took second game 11-6. In the third and fourth David was unable to maintain his accuracy , largely due to much tighter play from his opponent and some super defensive play. Mistakes crept in and David lost 11-6,11-5.
