The current eligibility requirements to play for the National Team are found in Byelaw No. 7 and are set out below.

ELIGIBILITY TO PLAY FOR IRELAND

1. have been born in Ireland (that is the ROI and Northern Ireland);or
2. be a citizen of the ROI or of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and have lived permanently in Ireland for the previous 2 years; or
3. have lived permanently in Ireland for the previous 2 years and either parent was born in Ireland; or
4. have played in any two of the Irish and Provincial Open Championships in the previous season and also in the previous season shall have informed the Secretary of the Association in writing of the wish to be considered for selection for Ireland and either parent was born in Ireland; or
5. have previously played for Ireland while eligible to do so; and
6. shall not have represented another country in a recognised international match in the previous 2 years and
7. be an honorary or individual member of the Association; and
8. if normally resident in Ireland, be a member of a club which is affiliated to Irish Squash and which Provincial Association is not in default in the matter of paying subscription to Irish Squash; and
9. satisfy any requirement as regards age, as specified in Appendix 1 to these Byelaws; and
10. comply with the criteria specified for the current season by the relevant Irish Selection Committee.

ELIGIBILITY TO PLAY FOR A PROVINCIAL TEAM

The current eligibility requirements to play for a Provincial Team are found in Appendix E of the irish Squash Byelaws and are set down below:
A player shall be eligible to represent his/her province in the Inter-Provincial Championships provided:-
1. he/she was born in that Province or
2. his/her father, mother, grandfather or grandmother was born in that Province and provided that he/she has played two compulsory tournaments in that Province in the season in question or
3. he/she was domiciled in that Province for a minimum period of 12 months immediately prior to the Championships or
4. he/she is resident in that Province for the purposes of undergoing full-time education in the Province or
5. that the player has previously represented that Province and was eligible to do so: and
6. he/she has not already represented another Province in the same season.
