9th  Annual General Meeting of Irish Squash Federation Ltd

This year’s AGM will commence at 2.00pm on Sunday, 8th June 2014

in Irish Sport HQ, National Sports Campus, Blanchardstown Dublin 15.

Note:

As is customary, it is intended that there will be a meeting of the new Board shortly after the AGM.

 

N.B. The Nominations of Club Representative and Alternative Representative; the Nomination of Representatives designated by a Provincial Association and the Nomination for Election to Position on the Board of Irish Squash should be submitted to the Irish Squash Office not later than 5.00pm on Friday 30th May 2014. 

Congratulations to Shelley and Derek Ryan on the birth of their new daughter this week. Born on Sunday 18th May both baby and mother are doing well. This is Shelley’s & Derek’s first child and all in Irish Squash look forward to a future women’s champion in about 20 years or less!!

Great news – Congratulations once again!

The team for the 2014 World Junior Championships has been selected. The event takes place in Namibia from the 16th to the 21st of August. The individual event takes place from the 10th to the 15th of August.

The team is:

The Under 15/17 team championships take place in Prague from the 8th May to the 11th.

SUNDAY 11th MAY

The U15s played Wales in a play off for 9/10th place but unfortunately lost 2-1 so finished in 10th place overall. Scott Gillanders had a good victory at number 1 winning 3-1 but both Stephen Hearst & Sophie O’Rourke lost their matches.

The U17s also had a tough match vs. Germany and also lost 2-1. Philip McSweeney had a great win at 1 winning 3-1. After a tough week and after some great wins especially vs. France Hannah Craig lost her match as did Paul O’Mahony. So a final placing of 14th place for Ireland

SATURDAY – 9-16 PLAY OFF

The Under 15s played Finland in the play offs and beat them 3-0 with Scott Gillanders, Stephen Hearst & Ellie McVeigh all winning 3-0. A super result from the team after the disappointment of not getting into the 1-8 play offs. Then in the 9-13th play off Ireland beat Sweden 3-0 with Scott Gillanders, Sean Dineen and Ellie McVeigh winning their matches. Ireland now play Wales on Sunday for 9th place overall.

The U17s play Sweden on Saturday in the 9-16s play offs. Unfortunately Philip McSweeney lost at number 1. But Hannah Craig came back with a super victory to win her  match 3-0. But Paul O’Mahony lost 3-1 having won the first match. Ireland then played Slovenia and won convincingly 3-0 with Philip McSweeney, Morgan Kelly & Stephanie Ryan all winning 3-0.
