Government Covid-19 Plan
Initial response:

Our working group will meet over the weekend to revise our Covid-19 guidelines following publication this week of the Irish Government’s new 5 Level approach to managing the pandemic.

Sport Ireland provided NGBs with updated advice this afternoon which we will consider carefully.

The immediate change from midnight tonight is that Dublin moves to Level 3.
This means that only individual training for indoor sports is permitted. Therefore matchplay within pods should be suspended from midnight.

A more detailed update will follow as soon as possible.

Introducing Squash Pods and Bubbles

Clubs have re-opened and restricted play is permitted under our published guidelines. Phase 3 of the Irish Government’s Roadmap remains in place and further detail on what may be permitted is now necessary.

Therefore, Irish Squash in consultation with Sport Ireland, supports the introduction of ‘Squash Pods’ which is consistent with public health advice for the COVID-19 pandemic. This may be implemented with immediate effect within clubs in consultation with COVID committees.

What is a Squash Pod?

How will Squash Pods work?

NB       Coaching lessons will operate outside Pods (for players and coaches)

Your club is a ‘Squash Bubble’

Irish Squash strongly recommend that all players restrict their squash activity to one club only. This is in keeping with introducing the concept of Squash Bubbles, whereby clubs are identified as Bubbles in this COVID era. We hope to use this framework in planning any interclub activity that might be feasible in 2020/2021.

Please forward any queries to [email protected] and check our website for further updates

Irish Squash wish to advise that following the Irish Government’s decision to delay progression to Phase 4 of the roadmap, access to squash remains limited to our current COVID-19 guidelines for Phase 3.

The NI Executive has approved a progression to Phase 4 in Northern Ireland next week.

The Irish Squash working group are considering further measures for squash that are compatible with Phase 3 public health advice.  We are liaising with the Sport Ireland Expert Group about this.

Please await updated and approved guidelines before making any changes to your current squash training or coaching.

15th Annual General Meeting of Irish Squash Federation clg

This year’s AGM took place on Sunday, 19th July 2020

in Sport HQ, Sport Ireland Campus, Dublin 15.

See 2020/21 Board Members HERE

As per yesterday’s announcement from the Government, that Phase 4 of the revised roadmap to reopen society would NOT BE GOING AHEAD on July 20th. This obviously also applies to sport and SQUASH.

Therefore the activity going on in clubs since June 29th in phase 3 of solo squash or routines with 2 players distancing, or a player with a coach distancing, is the ONLY activity that can happen until August 10th at the earliest.

Any change then, will be dependent on the government announcement before Aug 10th,  if phase 4 will be allowed to progress.
