The Junior Committee have, announced the U13, U15, U17 and U19’s teams that will compete at European and Five Nations Championships over the next few weeks.

WSF COACHING COURSE – ULSTER

Irish Squash are pleased to invite you to a WSF Level 1 Coaching course in Ulster.

Course organiser: Kieran Doherty

Venue: Lisburn Rackets Club, Co. Antrim  

Weekend 1 – 9th and 10th of April

Weekend 2 – 7th & 8th of May

Course Duration: The course will run for 4 days from 9.30am – 5.30pm with assessment on the final day. Each candidate must submit a video of themselves playing squash for 2 mins approx on Whatsapp to 087 2651645 prior to being accepted on the course.

Candidates will be on court and in class room during the course.

COURSE FEE

The course fee of €275 can be paid in this link: – HERE

You must be 18yrs to do this course.

As this course is part of the WSF Coach Education Programme, participants must register for their SPIN on the WSF website – HERE

As L1 Coach Candidate, which costs GBP 16. You must do this before the course starts.

If not already vetted with Irish Squash, candidates must apply for Garda vetting – Details on the Irish Squash web site – HERE

Also you must attend a Safeguarding 1 course, see the Local Sports Partnership in the county you live, to register for a course. It is just €15 and takes one evening to complete. Search for a course – HERE

Courses are not in strict chronological order!

N.B. Please send in your Garda Vetting & Safeguarding certs and WSF Coach SPIN to [email protected] before you start the course.

You will get your coaching badge then if you are successful.

Limerick Senior Open

 

On a weekend full of action, the Limerick Senior Open was taking place also. Great to have an active club in Limerick running a tour event. A great final with Oisin Logan winning a senior title for the 1st time this season, beating Sam Buckley.

We are excited to launch the second cycle of our Racquet Sports Coaches Leadership Programme during Women in Sport Week! We are collaborating with Badminton Ireland, Table Tennis Ireland and Tennis Ireland once again to get a four week programme to support female coaches starting out on their coaching journey. For more info and how to sign up see form below.

Participants will learn more on the following four key coaching areas; leadership, psychology, performance analysis and communication. There will be a guest speaker for each of our online sessions, along with the Women in Sports Leads on hand to facilitate them. This programme is aimed at female coaches starting out on their pathway to coaching. It will be delivered in a hybrid format with 3 weeks online and the fourth week with a face to face meet-up.

Applications are now open to apply. The closing date for applications is Friday, March 25th @ 5pm. The course is FREE.

The entry is now open for the Limerick Senior Open 2022 (Tour 7 on the Irish Squash Calendar). This tournament is a PSA Ranking Event and is being held in Limerick Lawn Tennis Club from Friday March 11th to Sunday March 13th. WSF Statement

The Board of the World Squash Federation (WSF) held an extraordinary meeting to confirm WSF’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The WSF World Junior Championships 2022, scheduled to be played 9-20 August in St. Petersburg, Russia, will be relocated from Russia to an alternative venue, details of which shall be released in due course.

The WSF condemns in the strongest possible terms the ongoing Russian military invasion of Ukraine. As the global governing body for squash, the WSF is committed to promoting peace through our sport and ensuring the safety of all participants in WSF Championships.

Please note that in addition to this media release, the on-line entry registration process for the junior championships has been temporarily suspended until an alternative venue has been decided.

ASSISTANT COACH FOR THE WOMEN’S SENIOR TEAM
2021/2022 SEASON
 
Irish Squash are inviting applications from suitably qualified coaches to work with our women’s senior team for the season 2021/22.  You must be a Level 1 coach (minimum), completed your Garda Vetting, completed Safeguarding 1 and have a WSF-SPIN/coach membership.  Please forward all four documents with your application. 
Please supply a reference from your provincial association.
