The Limerick Open took place on March 11th-12th. The Women’s & Men’s A sections were PSA events with the winners Breanne Flynn and Conor Moran. The winner of the Men’s B was Kwong Yee Loh. Congratulations to them all.

A super weekend of squash at LLTC with some great matches on display over a couple of days. LLTC would like to thank the sponsors of the event, Irish Squash and LLTC Squash Committee.

Great to see so many people drop in to the club over the weekend to watch some thrilling squash. Thanks to everyone that entered the event.

In Hamburg the German Junior Open continues till Sunday with 12 Irish players, coached by Josh McVeigh.

On Friday, February 24th the refurbished courts in Westport Squash club were officially opened by local TD and former Minister for Sport, Michael Ring. At a ceremony to mark the opening, club members as well as local councillors and dignitaries were  present to celebrate the magnificent new facilities and superb new courts. 

Since the courts were refurbished overall membership has nearly doubled, junior membership has doubled and female membership has quadrupled. There are now over 100 male, 60 female members and 45 juniors. There is also a TY project on-going with 12 girls from the Sacred Heart College. The club has also welcomed up to 15 Ukrainians over the past few months.

Everyone in Westport Squash Club can be so proud of their achievement in bringing the courts up to a world class standard.

Present at the opening were  Michael Ring TD, Councillor Neil Cruise of Leader, Sabina Trench, CEO South West Development,  Jens Hellberg, Chair of Westport Squash Club, Gerry Galvin, Paul Nugent COO Irish Squash and Rosie Barry, President Irish Squash.

Following consultation with players and clubs we’ve decided  to run 3 x 45 minute sessions over the coming months on Monday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.. All 15 of the Rules of Squash will be covered as follows:

  1. Rules 1 to 7 (Jan 16 / Mar 6 April 17) The link to the on-line sessions will be posted here on the day.
  2. Rules 8, 9 and 10 (Jan 23 / Mar 27 / May 2) This is the link for this evening’s session.
