Squash has been voted “the world’s healthiest sport” by Forbes magazine in a survey that measured cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and calories burned. Squash is a game for life, playable from ages 5 to approximately 80. A recent ESRI study, “Sporting Lives: An Analysis of a Lifetime of Irish Sport,” notes that team sports are more commonly played at a younger age, with a transition to individual sports in adulthood. This trend positions squash well as a lifelong sport. Additionally, with rising obesity rates, squash and physical activity play a crucial role in combating this trend. Squash is ideal for those with busy lifestyles, as one can have a fun workout, shower, and change within an hour. It only requires one opponent, and being an indoor sport, it is never rained off!
