What is Disco Squash?

The DISCO Squash programme is a 6-week initiative that aims to involve more teenage girls in our sport focusing on fun and freedom of play.
After 6 weeks with a weekly coached session, to culminate the experience, the final session transforms the squash courts into a dynamic disco venue, complete with vibrant lighting, music, decorations, and glow-in-the-dark equipment!

HER MOVES

HER MOVES is a national campaign by Sport Ireland designed to reach teenage girls who are inactive or at risk of dropping out of sports. The campaign redefines sport by expanding opportunities and showing how physical activity can be enjoyable and rewarding. It’s also aimed at the people who influence teenage girls, such as parents, teachers, coaches, and service providers, helping them support and encourage girls to stay active.

HER MOVES is rooted in insights from Sport Ireland’s Adolescent Girls Get Active Research Report (2021), which deeply explores the attitudes and behaviours of teenage girls aged 13-18 towards sport and physical activity. According to the report, 100% of girls agreed with the statement “I feel better when I move,” with fun and friendship being the strongest motivators for participation. However, by the ages of
13-15, many girls label themselves as “not sporty” and, consequently, disengage from sports. The most significant barrier identified is a lack of confidence in their
ability to participate.

HER MOVES aims to dismantle these barriers by creating supportive and engaging environments that celebrate the diverse ways girls can enjoy being active.
