EUROPEAN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ireland finish 4th.
Ireland finished a super 2018 European team championships by finishing 4th, which is the highest placing for an Irish U19 team in these championships. Having beaten Scotland in the quarter finals, they had the No. 1 seeds and holders, England. Always a tough match. Sam Buckley playing at number 1, gave it everything but lost in 4 games. Sophie O’Rourke playing the U19 individual champion played very well but went down 3-0. In the 3/4th place play off the team played Czech Republic. Tired after 10 days of competition both Conor Moran & Sam Buckley gave it everything but lost both matches. Sam won the 1st game, was 2-1 down and got injured so had to retire unfortunately.
So a very successful tournament for the team and congratulations to them all – Sophie O’Rourke, Ellie McVeigh, Conor Moran, Sam Buckley, Scott Gillanders. Coach Ed Dunne & Manager Niamh Maher
