This weekend saw the highlight of the domestic Junior calendar with the playing of the Junior Nationals. There were events from U11 to U19 for both boys and girls. Dermot Dineen and his committee did a superb job with over 90 players taking part.
In the Premier events the U19’s, the No. 2 seed Fiona Power from Galway LTC bt Griffin Gillanders 11-7, 7-11, 11-7, 11-5. In the boys Michael Craig beat David Ryan in a great match with superb skill shown from both players. The result was 3-1 – 11-8, 4-11, 11-9, 13-11. David is just coming back from injury but this was another great win by Michael, having also beatien David in the Irish Junior Open in November. It was great to see Oisin Logan back playing again after being off injured since early December.
